Boarding - Lessons - Training We treat your horse like one of our own Mike Bernsdorf & June Scheunemann, Owner Operators

Lessons

We offer private and group lessons in both  English and Western, focusing on developing a strong relationship between horse and rider. We believe that a true understanding of how horses think and why they behave the way they do, along with a balanced seat and clear understanding of the basics of effective communication, are the keys to a happy, safe and successful partnership. Lessons are offered by appointment. Currently $30 per lesson

Boarding

Our barn maintains a comfortable temperature even during harsh Midwestern winters, and our hilltop location usually provides a refreshing breeze on toasty summer days. Boarders enjoy indoor and outdoor arenas, heated lounge overlooking our indoor arena, heated restroom with shower, large tack lockers and a hot and cold water wash stall. There are also lovely riding trails and cross-county jumps along our 80-acre property. Our facility is open daily from 9am— 9pm.  Board includes bedding, feed, daily cleaning and turnout (weather permitting).

Training

We use the basics of natural horsemanship in a no- nonsense way.  Generally, trainers work in short sessions with young horses; we’ve found that youngsters tend to retain what they learn in shorter lessons, and progress faster as a result. Once a horse has learned the basics, we begin to work for longer periods of time, gradually asking more from the horse. Our horses are started on the ground with long line and round pen work. When we’ve gained control of the horse’s feet, we move to ground driving and sacking out. Solid ground manners are developed before we ever attempt to get on the horse’s back. Although every horse is different, we generally like to have three months to develop a good foundation.  Once the foundation is laid, we include lessons with the owner and trainer. Tell us what your goals are, and we will help you to reach them with your horse!
